THE ACORN STORY

The Acorn Clothing Company opened its doors in 1977, and since then has developed into one of the finest dress and sport shirt companies in America. Its sole owner and designer, Bob Goldfeder, has continually developed and refined his original design concept of better quality merchandise, the use of natural fibers, a sophisticated, well-bred product design and dependable retail service.

After graduating from college with majors in both business and art, he worked as a buyer at Gimbels in Pittsburgh and then traveled internationally for the European fashion market at Barney’s Underground in New York. He then designed for Petronius, Ltd. An apparel company in the United Kingdom and designed and produced a line of men’s clothing and sportswear for a Chinese trading company. Bob Goldfeder had everything he needed to launch his own design company, and Acorn was founded.

In addition to the refined design and execution of European fashion for the American consumer, a line of Western apparel was developed. Its American sense of inspiration was quickly established in the Western market. Bold colors, tasteful and imaginatively designed fabrics, and the core of Bob Goldfeder’s talent enables him to produce, season after season, a unique line of high sought after dress and sport shirts. Today, the Acorn name sets the standard of quality in Western clothing and is naturally regarded as the finest shirt a man can be proud to wear. Acorn is to the discriminating Western customer what Ralph Lauren has become to the more affluent American consumer.
